Since 1985, Bettina has worked as an editor with several well-known German directors, on over fifty feature films, documentaries and television films. In her collaborations, she coined narrative rhythm and assembly structure and style of the Berlin School of film

Bettina's works are characterized by the invisible interface, which draws attention to story and atmosphere, and the assembly is in the background itself. In 2007 she was awarded the Bremen Film Award awarded for longstanding contributions to European cinema.

Bettina's most recent collaboration with Christian Petzold was the feature Barbara following earlier films with him, The State I Am In and Yella, and Barbara was nominated for the German Film Award

Bettina followed this up with award winning Hannah Arendt for Margarethe von Trotta, about the influential and controversial German-Jewish philosopher and political theorist.
