Mike started out directing music videos for such bands as Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Blood Brothers, and The Cave Singers

Mike  made his first feature film, Analog Days about young adults in the small town of Newhall, CA, 30 miles north of Los Angeles, and the documentary, Kid Icarus, about a young man, Leigh Harkrider, that lives in a trailer park on the outskirts of Los Angeles, where with an obsession for Steven Spielberg, who sets out to make his cinematic debut with limited knowledge of what it takes to make a great film.

Mike's  more recent feature film, Littlerock is a drama that examines culture shock, the universal yearning for connection, and the impact of history on ordinary people in the tale of Atsuko and Rintaro, Japanese siblings who come to California to visit a World War II-era internment camp.  

Littlerock is followed up by the feature film, Pearblossom Hwy, co-written and starring Atsuko Okatsuka of  Littlerock  and also starring Cory Zacharia from  Littlerock and  Kid Icarus.

Mike currently teaches film directing at the University of Southern California.
