Originally from the Soviet Union,
Slava made several films there before emigrating to
Israel and continuing his film work.
Slava eventually moved to New York City in the 1970s
and co-wrote, produced and directed the film Liquid Sky, an enduring and influential low-budget
science fiction visual feast.
Some further films Slava directed include Poor Liza, the documentary Stalin's Wife, and Perestroika.
There are plans to tour Liquid Sky in select venues with a new digital print
of the film.
