Alain attended Ecole Emile Cohl in Lyon, where he studied animation and design. Alain has written several novels and has worked for Folimage Animation Studio since 1988.

Alain's projects include: The Egotist, followed by the TV series Minuscules Tragedies and films Bitter Sweet, The Corridor, and Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Alain also worked as animator on Jacques-Remy Girerd's animated film Raining Cats and Frogs.  Often his company Folimage's collaborative work is based on Alain's texts, and Alain has also written several dark humored crime novels.

More recently, Alain was writer, co-director, and animator on an animated film noir feature film, the Oscar nominated, A Cat in Paris, where a Parisian cat living a secret life as a cat burglar's aide must come to the rescue of Zoe, the little girl he lives with, after she falls into a gangster's clutches.
