Alfonso was
born in Barcelona studied music writing at the Berklee
College of Music in Boston.
He created the music for several films over the years
by Isabel
Coixet including Things I Have Never Told You, My Life Without Me, and Yesterday Never Ends.
Alfonso's other film scores
include Hours of Light, Princesas, Transsiberian, Blancanieves, and Abracadabra.
Alfonso more recently scored for Isabel Coixet, the dramatic film The Bookshop, starring Emily Mortimer as a woman struggling to run a
business against polite but ruthless small-town opposition.
He also composed for an acclaimed documentary about palindromes,
