Guy is originally from the maritime province of Nova Scotia, Canada, is an alum of the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, and is a member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers.  He currently splits his time between New York City and Toronto.

Guy has worked on several short films, including The Warren, The Underground, Frost, and The Archivist, which won a CSC Award for Best Cinematography.

Guy's feature film work includes the coming of age tale Wet Bum for director Lindsay Mackay, for which he was nominated for a CSC Best Cinematography Award.  Other films include David Bezmozgis' feature Natasha and Jordan Canning's feature Suck It Up, which premiered at Slamdance.

One of Guy's recent features is the biopic Maudie, directed by Aisling Walsh and starring Ethan Hawke and Sally Hawkins.

A story close to home for Guy, Maudie follows the life of Nova Scotian folk artist Maud Lewis. Maudie garnered Guy a CSC Award for Cinematography.

Guy recently shot the upcoming film The Parting Glass, directed by Stephen Moyer, written by and starring Denis O'Hare.
