John started recording and performing Foley back in
1985 working for the South Australian Film Corporation. He went
freelance as a Foley artist in 1987, starting his own company in
1997, FeetnFrames.
The FeetnFrames studio is set in remote rural South
Australia. The remoteness gives them a great advantage as his team
can easily record outside when required. With great recording
locations nearby, they are able to do location foley when the film
requires it and sounds that cannot be created with the same quality
in the studio.
John's earlier projects include Foley walker work on
Jane
Campion's The Portrait of a Lady and Peter
Weir's The Truman Show. Other Foley artist work included:
Oscar
and Lucinda, Babe: Pig and the City, Lantana,
and Danny Deckchair.
John's diverse mix of projects for FeetnFrames have included: King
Kong, The World's Fastest Indian, December
Boys, Australia, Mary and
Max, The Lovely Bones, The Hobbit
films, The Sapphires, and 100 Bloody
Acres.
More recent Foley projects for John's
team include: Chef, The Lego Movie, The
Babadook, The Water Diviner, Mad Max: Fury
Road, and the upcoming film, Regression.
