In 1991, Nelson founded Sound Dogs, a studio that has since grown into Canada's premier sound editing, recording, and design company with hundreds of film and television titles to their credit.

Nelson has worked with renowned directors such as Darren Aronofsky on Requiem for a Dream and Guillermo del Toro on The Shape of Water, which earned Nelson both Oscar and BAFTA nominations.

Nelson's other film work includes: The Breadwinner, Dual, Priscilla, Nutcrackers, Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis, and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.
