Currently based in Brooklyn, Vanessa studied
piano at the New
England Conservatory, and art history, architecture and physics
at Columbia
University.
Her first documentary film was the Peabody-award
winning Between the Folds. Between the
Folds has been translated into over ten languages and broadcast
in dozens of countries as well as screening at international film
festivals.
Vanessa was a featured presenter at the EG 2010
conference, and serves on the jury for the News
and Documentary Emmy Awards, as well as on several festival
juries.
Vanessa produced and shot for Showtime's Years of
Living Dangerously, a documentary series about climate change
executive produced by James Cameron, Jerry
Weintraub, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Vanessa's most recent documentary feature film is
Obit, about The New York Times obituaries and their
writer-reporters.
Obit world-premiered at the Tribeca Film
Festival and has been in limited release around the United
States.
