We interviewed participants in Womanimation!, an international film festival highlighting animated film stories, created by women.
With a background in theater, Dotty Kultys graduated from the University of the West of England with an MA in Animation. She’s worked on short films, commercial videos, and theater projections.
Dotty's most recent project is the short film The Hunchback and the Swan, using paper cut-outs, collagraphy, pixilation and 2D digital animation, and she composed the film as well.
The Hunchback and the Swan was created in collaboration with Taffy Thomas, the UK’s First Storytelling Laureate, mentored by Peter Lord, co-founder and Creative Director of Aardman Animations.
Aliona Baranova, originally from Belarus and now in the Czech Republic, studied graphic design in Minsk, Belarus before moving to the Czech Republic to study animation at Tomas Bata University.
Aliona's most recent film, Domov, or Home, is the story of a traveler who recounts some of his journeys around the world, and his mixture of home-sickness and wanderlust, using a variety of textures and looks within its short running time.
