A graduate of UConn with degrees in Costume Design
and Puppetry, Mitchell's costuming work often explores specific
groups of people not previously portrayed in film.
His work as costume designer includes The Strange Ones, Eighth Grade, Late Night, and Hustlers, which earned him a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination.
Mitchell's more recent projects
include Home Before Dark, the upcoming musical, In The Heights, and The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
