Gaute began his career as a rock and jazz bassist
before attending Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Over the years, Gaute has been involved in arranging for
recording artists, writing for video games, commercials, short
films, and theater productions.
Some of Gaute's notable feature film projects have included
Elias
and The Treasure of the Sea, The Last
Sentence, Victoria, and the documentary Nina's
Children.
Recently, Gaute composed the score for the Oscar-nominated film
A Man
Called Ove, which is the third top-grossing film in Swedish
history. Other recent work from Gaute includes the Norwegian historical epic
The
Last King and the stop-motion animation In The Forest
of HuckyBucky.
